Thank you so much for being here.
I am very grateful for the music which always comes to me as a gift when I write it. The earliest song of this album is from 2011, I believe. It took some time to finally record and finish the album, because even though the album was finished and ready to record, I could not decide how and where to record it. But this year I visited a good friend of mine who fulfilled a long-held wish of his. He always wanted to publish his poetry in a book, but couldn't find a publisher. So he made little books with his poems all by himself. On the way back I was so inspired and full of energy to finally produce the album myself. So I did. I wrote down all the sheet music and the lyrics, learned more about recording, transformed my room to a little studio and recorded the album. Afterwards, I edited the music and designed the booklet which you can see on this website. And Eigengrau was born.I recorded voice and guitar simultaneously with one microphone and I tried to do as few cuts as possible to keep the music natural. The way you hear the music on the recording is what you will hear live.
Eigengrau is the name of the color you see when you close your eyes. I like the double meaning of "what you see when you close your eyes". For me the album is about introspection and the conclusions you draw from it. Each song has a story and a meaning; they describe what I see when I close my eyes. But these are my stories. I'm very curious about your story, about what the songs mean to you, about what you see, when you close your eyes. If you want to share your story with me, you can do so via the message field on the right.
I'm always looking for places to play and share my music. If you have a place in mind, please let me know.
